Uwe Balasus-Lange is an active member of the BVEG (German Federal Association for Natural Gas, Oil and Geo-Energy e.V.), the DGMK (German Scientific Society for Petroleum, Natural Gas and Coal e.V.) and has a lifetime membership of the SPE (Society of Petroleum Engineers).
Uwe Balasus-Lange worked as Senior Vice President for global production and operational excellence at Wintershall Dea in Kassel until the end of March 2021.
After starting his studies in Petroleum Engineering at the Clausthal-Zellerfeld University of Technology in 1987, he graduated as Dipl.-Ing./Master of Engineering and worked at RWE Dea AG (later DEA AG again) in all German operations of the company from Schleswig-Holstein via Lower Saxony to Bavaria in various specialist and management positions since 1993. From 2001 to 2004 Uwe worked abroad in Egypt (Gulf of Suez & Mediterranean Sea). This was followed by activities as operations manager in Bavaria (Gas Storages) and Schleswig-Holstein (Mittelplate oil field) as well as in exploration. In 2011 he took over the field development department as Senior Vice President with responsibility for drilling technology, reservoir engineering, upstream facilities & technology and project management. From 2016, he was responsible for the entire German and Danish portfolio of DEA AG. Also acting as managing director of DEA Speicher Management GmbH, on the supervisory board of DEA AG and for several years on the board of the Norwegian subsidiary DEA Norge AS (later Wintershall Dea Norge AS). He gained further international experience as Senior Vice President in Turkmenistan and in DEA's activities in Mexico.
He has been supporting NDEWG GmbH, Lingen, in the field of deep geothermal energy since April 2021, founded UBL Energie GmbH in August 2021 and is the 4th shareholder of NDEWG GmbH since September 2021.
